The turn signal stalk groups all the commands under the steering wheel that the driver operates without letting go of the steering. The left lever manages turn signals, dipped beam and high beam lights, headlight flash and horn, while the right lever controls the front wipers and windshield washer. The electronic turn signal control unit mounted on the assembly controls the operation of the direction indicators and hazard lights. When this control unit or one of the levers fails, the vehicle may be left without turn signals, without headlights or without wipers, which makes it dangerous to use and non-compliant with the MOT.

Disconnect the battery before starting and, if the vehicle is equipped with a driver airbag, wait for the discharge time indicated by the manufacturer before removing the steering wheel. Remove the steering column half-shells then disconnect the connectors one by one while noting their location. If the blue plug shows scorch marks or an oxidized terminal, replace it before reconnecting the new stalk, otherwise the new control unit risks experiencing the same overheating. Test turn signals, hazard lights, lighting and wipers before reassembling the covers. Professional installation is recommended, especially if an airbag is present.
