⚙️ Upper Rear Door Hinge Iveco Daily Van – Left / Right – Ref. 3801998
🔧 What is this part for?
The upper rear door hinge is the pivot axis of the rear door panel of the Iveco Daily van. Firmly bolted to the body pillar and the door edge, it supports the entire weight of the panel during each opening and closing, allowing rotation up to 270°. Its high position gives it a major structural role: it absorbs most of the mechanical stress during forced openings, impacts or pivot jamming. A worn, forced or jammed upper hinge does more than hinder operation: it exposes the door to progressive panel deformation, poor alignment of seals, and in the most serious cases, to detachment or rupture of the weld point between the door and its internal reinforcement. Replacement must be carried out at the first signs of failure, without waiting for complete door degradation.
This upper hinge is compatible on the left side and right side interchangeably. It is made of steel, gray finish, and adapts directly to the original Iveco Daily vans from 2000 to 2009, all engines included.

✅ Why replace this part?
✅ Prevent progressive deformation of the rear door panel caused by a jammed or forced pivot
✅ Prevent detachment or rupture of the weld point between the door and its internal reinforcement, a significantly more costly repair
✅ Restore correct door alignment, essential for van sealing and locking
✅ Signs of wear / failure / replacement
A failing upper hinge first manifests as abnormal resistance to opening or closing the rear door, sometimes accompanied by creaking or metallic squeaking at the top of the panel. The door may also show slight sagging on the hinge side, visible to the naked eye by vertical play or misalignment of the frame seal. On Daily vehicles used in intensive urban delivery, the pivot wears quickly under the effect of repeated openings and vibrations. A door whose hinge has been forced — due to jamming or lateral impact — should be inspected immediately: even without visible deformation, the axis may be bent and cause permanent stress on the door reinforcement weld over time.
✅ Assembly tips
Remove the rear door panel before any work on the upper hinge, with the help of a second operator to support the door. Simultaneously inspect the lower hinge (ref. 3801999) as well as the weld points of the door reinforcement: if cracks or deformations are visible, the door must be straightened or replaced before proceeding with installation of the new hinge. Check the alignment of both hinges after tightening and ensure the door is flush with the frame seal all around before final tightening.
