Description
⚙️ Lower Rear Door Hinge Iveco Daily Van – Left / Right – Ref. 3801999
🔧 What is this part for?
The lower rear door hinge is the second pivot point of the rear door panel of the Iveco Daily van. Bolted to the bottom of the body pillar and the bottom edge of the door, it works in tandem with the upper hinge (ref. 3801998) to support and guide the panel over its full opening range of up to 270°. Its lower position exposes it more to mud splashes, road salt and corrosion: it is generally the first of the two hinges to degrade on Daily vehicles used in winter conditions or in intensive urban environments. A stuck or worn lower pivot causes the bottom of the door to sag, misalignment of the frame seal, and transfers abnormal stress to the upper hinge which eventually deteriorates in turn. Replacement should be carried out at the first signs of sticking or play to prevent any deformation of the panel or weld failure.
This lower hinge is compatible on either left or right side indifferently. Made of steel, it fits directly as original equipment on Iveco Daily vans from 2000 to 2009, all engine versions included.

Iveco OEM reference: 3801999
✅ Why replace this part?
✅ Eliminate sagging of the bottom of the door and vertical play that abnormally stress the upper hinge and internal door reinforcement
✅ Prevent cascade deterioration: a stuck lower hinge eventually damages the upper hinge and the panel's weld points
✅ Restore correct door alignment to ensure van tightness and proper lock operation
✅ Signs of wear / failure / replacement
The first sign of a failing lower hinge is visible sagging of the bottom of the rear door panel: the door no longer closes symmetrically, the frame seal at the bottom of the door no longer sits flush uniformly, and vertical play is noticeable when lifting the bottom of the panel slightly. A squeaking or metallic cracking sound localized at the bottom of the door when opening or closing is also characteristic. On vehicles exposed to salt or humidity, the pivot can seize by oxidation in its housing and make the door very difficult to operate. In this case, any attempt to force it without prior hinge replacement risks deforming the panel or tearing the fastening point on the body side.
✅ Installation advice
Remove the rear door panel before any work, with the help of a second operator to hold the door. Systematically inspect the upper hinge (ref. 3801998) at the same time: as the two parts work as a pair, it is recommended to replace them together as soon as one of them is damaged. Carefully clean and degrease the fastening housings on the body side and door side before installation. Check complete panel alignment after tightening and verify frame seal contact all around before finalizing tightening torques.
