🚗 Important steps for replacing your front brake pads and rotors
1️⃣ Removing the front wheels: Use a 27 mm socket after jacking up the vehicle and securing it with jack stands.
2️⃣ Remove the front hub: Use a 17 mm socket to remove the hub.
3️⃣ Remove the brake caliper:
- Remove the slide caps using a flathead screwdriver.
- Unscrew the slide screws to remove the caliper.
4️⃣ Removing the caliper bracket: Use a 24 mm socket to unscrew the bracket from the rear.
5️⃣ Removing the brake rotors:
- Tap the back of the rotor firmly with a large hammer to loosen it.
- Clean the mounting surface with a wire brush and compressed air.
6️⃣ Preparing the new brake rotor: Unpack the rotor and degrease it with brake cleaner.
7️⃣ Installing the new brake rotor: Place the rotor on the hub and screw it back in.
8️⃣ Cleaning and installing the caliper brackets:
- Clean the caliper bracket with a wire brush.
- Install the new pad springs.
9️⃣ Reinstalling the caliper bracket: Screw it back on using the 24 mm socket.
🔟 Installing the brake pads: Reinstall them in the pad bracket.
1️⃣1️⃣ Pushing back the caliper pistons:
- Use a vise if you don’t have a piston re-press tool.
- Press down with an old brake pad to push the pistons back straight.
1️⃣2️⃣ Checking the caliper slides: If they are seized, use a new slide kit (available as an accessory).
1️⃣3️⃣ Installing the wear indicators: Clip them onto the pad and reinstall the brake caliper.
1️⃣4️⃣ Final Steps: Tighten the new slide screws and replace the caliper caps.
